Wingman #1 · The origin
Born behind the chair
Not in a lab. Not in a boardroom. Everyday Clay started in a barbershop in Buffalo, New York, with barbers who were tired of sending guys out the door in helmet hair.
Chapter 1
The helmet-head problem
Every barber knows the look. A great cut walks out the door, and by the next morning it's buried under gel that dries hard and shiny, or pomade that sits greasy all day. Hair that knocks like a helmet. Hair that doesn't move.
Guys wanted something that held their style and still looked like hair.
Chapter 2
Made at The Salty Dog
So the clay was made where hair actually gets done: The Salty Dog Barbershop in Buffalo, New York. It was developed and tested in the chair, on real customers, with real cuts.
The shop's scent made it into the jar too: the Salty Dog Barber Blend of cedarwood, sandalwood and sweet beeswax.
Chapter 3
Tallow, not petroleum
At the heart of it is grass-fed beef tallow, which conditions and softens. Kaolin and bentonite clay absorb excess oil and add texture. Jojoba, castor, safflower and sunflower oils and beeswax give it a flexible hold.
The result is a matte clay with a medium hold that you can restyle all day, and that washes out with regular shampoo.
Chapter 4
200 guys, real days
Before we sold a single jar, over 200 guys wore it through real days: work, workouts, dates and everything in between.
200+guys tested it before launch
Chapter 5
Every man needs a Wingman
That's the whole idea. A jar that has your back, every day, so your hair can roam free. Pick one up online, or find it in the chair at a Wingman Certified barbershop.
